Desander Desilter and Degasser for China Drilling Company

Drilling companies or drilling contractors are always rig owners who win projects all over the world drilling for oil exploration companies. Along with each rig, there is a solids control system, and a solids control system is comparably independent system among the 8 systems for a rig.

In a complete solids control system, there are following equipment involved:

Shale shakers, desanders, desilters, degasser, decanter centrifuges and pumps. In a recent project, a China drilling company has just purchased from GN Solids Control following equipment for a solids control system:

1. Desander GNZJ752J-1S. The desander cones are located after the shale shaker, which is used to remove particles above 40 microns. For this desander, there is a drying shaker with 2 pieces of shaker screens and a screen size of 1.35 square meter. Normally for weighted mud there should be a desander or desilter with underflow shaker. Here it is a one desander model with a 10 inch diameter desander cone.

2. Desilter GNZJ752J-8N. This desilte is located after the desander. It is called desilter cause it is used to remove particles larger than 20 microns which are mostly sized as silt. Same as the desander, it has an underflow shaker, too. Both the desander and desilter are fed by centrifugal pumps.

3. Vacuum degasser GNZCQ270B. Vacuum degassers are located after the shale shaker while before the cyclones. GN Vacuum degasser has no need of a large power. Instead, it can be regarded as a large agitator. GN Solids Control has 2 models of vacuum degasser available and the GNZCQ270 is the smaller one. Besides the vacuum degasser, GN Solids Control also has centrifugal degasser available.

In fact, GN is even more professional for design a complete turnkey solution involving all equipment like shake shakers, mud cleaners, middle speed decanter centrifuge and high speed decanter centrifuges. And all pumps needed in the solids control system are available.

GNMS-1500D Mud Recycling System Deliver to Clients in Asia

Normally, GN Solids Control recommends 4 stage separation systems for TBM or pipe jacking projects for a thorough treatment of drilling mud. In some cases, based on clients’ customized requests, GN Solids Control can also make 2 or 3 stages separation units in a compact design. For example, the GNMS-500D and GNMS-1000D are both quite popular products during the years. And recently, GN just delivered several sets of GNMS-1500D to some clients in Asia.

1. GNMS-1500D Mud Recycling System is designed and manufactured according to the needs and requirements from customer, which is appropriate for mud treating & recycling in mining industry, piling works, HDD(horizontal directional drilling) and so on.

2. The treatment capacity of this system is up to 360m³/h. This system includes 2 stages of solids control and separation. The first-stage separation is the shale shaker part of double deck shale shaker & desander.

3. The second-stage separation is the desander part of shale shaker & desander fed by a large powered centrifugal pump. Centrifugal pump gives enough power to the desander cyclones and mud is separated into liquid and solids by centrifugal force inside the cyclones.

4. Inside the catch tank, there is a device to prevent dry-run of the centrifugal pump, for mud compensation and preparation.

Function of GNMS-1500D:

During drilling, the drilling mud contains lots of sand and silt. This recycled mud is transferred to GNMS-1500D’s inlet pipe and solids phase larger than 40μm are removed by the mud recycling system. In this way, clean drilling mud is returned to the rig/pipe jacking machine.

GNTBM-360 Slurry Separation Plant for Pipe Jacking Engineering Company

Pipe jacking is one kind of drilling works similar as Tunnel Bored projects, which need a pipe jacking machine to drill under the ground and the slurries generated from drilling shall be treated well before disposal.

For such projects, like for TBM projects, GN Solids Control has several optional solutions, including following:

1. An economic and compact mud unit GNMS-D series desanding units. This series are made of a double deck shaker and a desanding/desilter section and a catch tank. They have 2 steps for separation. A feeding pump is located on side of catch tank. It is flexible for its compact layout. GN has various capacities among 200GPM, 500GPM, 1000GPM and 1500GPM.

2. Self-contained mud systems GNMS-B series including a similar double deck shaker as the GNMS-D series including shaker and cyclones and cyclone feeding pump, and also a larger tank plus a mud mixing hopper. It can serve 2 functions: 2 step separation and mud mixing. It also ranges from 200GPM to 1000GPM.

3. GNTBM series slurry plant, as this client purchased from GN. They have 3 steps separation, shale shaker, desander and desilter, equipped by 2 large slurry pumps for feeding, and a compact design with 2 layers. There are 3 models for option, the 240cbm/hr, 360cbm/hr and 500cbm/hr, especially for the TMB projects.

Those above 3 kinds of mud recycling units are widely used in many countries, clients and end users are buying from GN directly, and also, lots of Chinese contractors are bringing GN’s equipment to all over the world.
